DEHRADUN: In the midst of an ongoing investigation into alleged forgery in land registry records maintained at the deputy registrar’s office in Dehradun, the city police registered two cases on Saturday evening against unidentified individuals on charges of fraud, forgery, and participation in a criminal conspiracy.

According to the police, the two cases were filed based on complaints from assistant inspector general Sandeep Srivastava at the deputy registrar’s office. The complaints allege that the unidentified suspects forged land records for two properties dating back to 1979 and 1989.

In one of his complaints, Srivastava mentioned: “In a property owned by Pyare Lal Kaul, covering an area of 467.88 sqm, documents were registered on December 12, 1989. Upon document scrutiny, it was discovered that the property had been sold to Swarn Singh of Bareilly.”

He added, “However, upon examination of the transfer of property documents, they were found to be fake.”

Srivastava further informed that similar irregularities were detected in another set of land registry documents for a property owned by Prem Chandra Nischal, who purportedly sold the property to Ramratna Sharma of Muzaffarnagar.
