VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is developing 46 reconstituted (RC) layouts for the farmers, who parted ways with their land during the land pooling process taken up for the one-cent layouts. These 46 layouts are coming up on nearly 1,215 acres. The VMRDA is spending nearly Rs 200 crore on creation of these layouts.

The district authorities pooled about 5,000 acres for the one-cent layouts in the combined Visakhapatnam district. Consequently, the VMRDA was bestowed with the responsibility of creation of these one-cent layouts.

The VMRDA developed 83 one-cent layouts in over 4,800 acres to create plots for the nearly 1.42 lakh homeless beneficiaries. This is the highest number of layouts created by the VMRDA in a particular year since its inception. These layouts have been spread in areas like Anakapalli, Anandapuram, Gajuwaka, Peda Gantyada, Padmanabham, Parawada, Pendurthi, Sabbavaram, etc.

As per the pooling process norms, the share of land a farmer gets per acre varies from farmer to farmer. It depends on the documentation and category of the land, including assignees, encroachers in the unobjectionable government land, and encroachers in the objectionable government land.

The Visakhapatnam district administration earlier submitted a report to the government to make sure there will be no stamp duty and registration fee for the farmers to execute conveyance deeds in favour of them. Consequently, the state government issued an official order on September 16, Saturday, permitting to make the deeds without any charges.

Visakhapatnam district collector Dr A Mallikarjuna, who is also serving as the VMRDA metropolitan commissioner, said that the VMRDA is now developing RC layouts for the farmers, who gave their lands for the one-cent layouts. “Works have already commenced at these layouts. These will be handed over to the nearly 2,000 farmers,” said Dr Mallikarjuna.

The Visakhapatnam district collector added that the conveyance deed making process is likely to be completed in the next few weeks.
