JODHPUR: The high court has directed both the municipal corporations (north & south) in the city not to regularise any forest land without obtaining a ‘no objection certificate’ from the forest department.

Summoning the district collector and the deputy conservator of forest on the next hearing on October 20 to explain the correct position of demarcation of the forest land, the high court has also directed to submit a report mentioning the areas, which have already got vacated from the encroachments.

Along with this, the court has also sought the submission of exact details of the areas, possession of which has already been taken by the forest department and the area, which is still left out of possession. The division bench of chief justice A H Masih and justice Vinit Kumar Mathur gave these directions while hearing a PIL by an environmentalist Ramji Vyas on Friday.

Taking a serious note of the lingering matter, the court stated, “It is made clear that no further time will be granted.”
