95 Fined For Violating Grap Rules In October, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate

GURUGRAM: As many as 95 challans amounting to Rs 4.8 lakh have been issued this month so far to those who were found flouting anti-pollution norms imposed under Graded Response Action Plan, MCG officials said on Thursday.

Most penalties (33) were issued for not covering construction materials, which is one of the major reasons for dust pollution.

Also, 30 challans were issued for not keeping proper dustbins, 15 for flouting Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and 12 for dumping construction and demolition waste. Five were issued for open dumping and burning of garbage.

Naresh Kumar, nodal officer and joint commissioner (SBM), environment and sustainability wing of MCG, said, “The enforcement team is continuously conducting checks and challans are being issued against those contributing to air pollution. Besides, measures are being taken to prevent deterioration of air quality such as mechanised sweeping of roads andsprinkling of water to mitigate dust pollution.”

Last week, CAQM invoked stage 2 of GRAP due to deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR.
