CHANDIGARH: Gurugram real estate company M3M group promoter Roop Bansal on Thursday withdrew his application for anticipatory bail filed in connection with an FIR registered against him by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) in April.
Soon after Panchkula additional district and sessions judge Praveen Kumar Lal took up the case, the defense counsel informed the court about instructions from his client to withdraw the application, which the court allowed. However, Bansal would have liberty to refile the application any time in future.
Sources said on a notice served by the court, an ACB team had come prepared with its reply to the application but did not file it as the bail application stood disposed.
The case under the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against former CBI judge Sudhir Parmar, his nephew Ajay Parmar and Bansal. Sudhir Parmar and Ajay Parmar are lodged in judicial custody in the PMLA case, while Bansal is in judicial custody in the case linked to Ireo group investors’ money.
Meanwhile, the PMLA court of Haryana has fixed October 31 as the date to hear arguments on the regular bail application moved by Sudhir Parmar and his nephew.
