‘use Of Potable Water For Construction Rampant’, Builders To Face Mcg Action, ET RealEstate

GURUGRAM: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has directed its engineering wing to survey the properties that are being built in zone 3 where developers and property owners are using potable water for construction. Joint commissioner (zone 3) Naresh Kumar has directed engineering wing officials to identify such properties and take action against builders for using potable water.

Residents claimed that builders use it in for construction especially in zone 3 areas, including Sushant Lok.

“Action will be taken against builders who are found using potable water for construction in zone 3. Such under construction buildings should be identified where builders are using potable water. For construction purposes, the recycled water should be used,” said Naresh Kumar in a meeting held with the engineering department staff on Tuesday.

Unauthorised use of potable water also causes loss of revenue to the civic body. The residents said that the builders often use powerful motors to store more water at the under-construction building sites. The residents have to suffer since they get low pressure and insufficient water supply, they alleged.

“We have raised the issue with MCG a number of times but no attention is given to this problem. There is rampant construction going on in the entire Sushant Lok area for which a majority of the builders are using potable water. However, our water supply comes at 6:30am and then at 6:30pm, but the MCG staff who can issue the challan visit the areas during the working hours and find no one using potable water. So, the challans are not issued since the staff has to click a photograph and upload it online to issue challan,” said Pawan Yadav, president of Sushant Lok Extension RWA.
