CHANDIGARH: The special judge, CBI court, Panchkula, has granted anticipatory bail to four persons currently lodged in Faridabad jail in another case.

The bail has been allowed in the two separate cases of cheating and fraud with a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs 152 crore. Both the cases were registered by the CBI three year ago.

Among those under custody, who have been granted anticipatory bail are Anil Jindal, Bishan Bansal, Rajesh Singla and Nanak Chand Tayal, directors and promoters of SRS real estate company based in NCR.

Their two partners – Seema Narang and Dheeraj Gupta – too have got the anticipatory bail, but the duo were never arrested. According to information, the CBI had filed two separate chargesheets against the accused before special CBI magistrate Vinod Kumar, who issued production warrants for four for Tuesday and summons for Seema and Dheeraj, which led to filing of anticipatory bail application.

While seeking the concession of bail for their clients, defence counsels K P Singh and Samdish Sehdev contended that for the past three years, the accused had been cooperating in the investigations and were never arrested by the CBI at any point of time, even as the agency had interrogated them in custody with the permission of court.

The counsels further cited Bombay High Court, which had allowed the bail concession in almost similar kind of case. Meanwhile, senior special CBI prosecutor Harsh Mohan Singh had opposed the plea and annexed various rulings as well to support his arguments.

Acceding to the submissions by defence counsels, special CBI judge Rajeev Goyal allowed the applications moved by them. “Now, the four accused under custody will be produced on production warrants and would furnish their bail bond. At the same time, they will be given the chargesheets of the case,” said Sehdev.

The accused had availed loans worth Rs 152 crore from Canara Bank. As there was default on repayment and issues related to documentation, the loan application and disbursals had come under scrutiny.
