PANCHKULA: Panchkula Municipal Corporation’s notices issued to group housing societies demanding property tax for parking lots inside societies has has not gone down well with residents.
The members of House Owners Welfare Association (HOWA), led by chairman Bharat Hiteshi, has demanded that no property tax should be levied on parking area in Panchkula city.
In this regard, Hiteshi, along with other members, met Zonal Taxation Officer Akash Kapoor to discuss the issue. The delegation expressed strong objection to the MC sending parking area tax by adding it to the property tax of many group housing societies.
Later, ZTO Akash Kapoor assured Hitaishi that no tax of any kind will be charged for parking area. “Those who have been charged parking area tax due to technical reasons, it will be rectified,” he added.
Commenting on the issue, Panchkula mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said, “No burden will be allowed to fall on the public in any way. Those to whom tax notices have been sent will be rectified.”
