Headless Cpcc Delays Sector 53 Hsg Scheme, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate

CHANDIGARH: The launch of the much-awaited Sector 53 housing scheme of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has hit another hurdle. The reason for delay this time around, though, lies not with the CHB but in Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) being headless.

The CHB is yet to get the mandatory registration of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera) as the requisite application hasn’t been submitted. For submitting the application, the CHB is required to attach with the application the approval of the CPCC.

“But the CPCC is currently headless with the controversy surrounding the post of its chairman. Recently, the UT home secretary who was also posted as the chairman of the CPCC expressed his inability to perform the post’s duties unless the UT personnel department issued a formal order regarding his post,” said sources.

The headless CPCC cannot issue a permission of ‘to establish’ without which the CHB cannot approach the Rera for the registration of its Sector 53 residential project. Without the Rera registration, the CHB cannot launch its project.

All other modalities of the project, including the final draft brochure have been finalised and uploaded on the CHB’s website.
