464 Societies Apply For Civic Works On Shared Cost Basis, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate
AHMEDABAD: Under the city civic body’s public participation scheme for development of various civic infrastructure facilities on shared funding, 464 residential societies have shown interest.
Under this scheme, residential societies have to pay 10% of the project cost, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation funds 20% of the cost while the remaining 70% of the expenditure is borne by the state government.
The civic body upgrades sewerage, streetlights, water pipelines and other facilities in this funding model.
Devang Dani, chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s standing committee, on Thursday said that 464 residential societies have applied for this scheme and work will begin soon.
“Total work amounts to Rs 63.14 crore which includes water, streetlights, pavement and other civic works for these 464 societies. The work will begin soon. Officials have been instructed to complete this development work as quickly as possible,” Dani said.
Of the total applications, 209 have come from societies located in the western part of the city and total cost is Rs 32.01 crore. The remaining 255 societies are in the eastern part of the city and the total cost is Rs 31.13 crore.
Dani said that the standing committee has decided to stop dumping garbage at dumping sites in Odhav and Vinzol areas and has been given the powers to appoint a consulting agency to prepare a feasibility study whether gardens or similar public utilities can be developed over these dumping sites.
The standing committee also decided to quicken the road repair work by deploying 15 paver machines. The civic body aims to complete repair works on road measuring 34.54km of length before Diwali. Apart from this, the civic body will install 50 exercise machines in public gardens in every zone.
