NEW DELHI: You must have heard the terms LED and OLED. Do you know the difference between the two?

OLED is an organic light emitting diode whereas LED is a light emitting diode in which emissive electroluminescent layer is the film of the organic compound, which emits light in response to the electric current.

Organic LED lighting has many benefits. Few of them are given below:

Lifespan of OLED lights is more

The significant advantage of the Light Emitting Diodes whenever compared to the other traditional lighting solutions has long lifespan. The average LED lasts 50,000 operating hours to 100,00 operating hours or even more.

They last 2 to 4 times as long as most florescent, metal halide and even sodium vapor lights. The LED lights have low maintenance costs in terms of labor and the lower costs for the replacement parts.

OLEDs are Energy Efficient

OLEDs usually consume low amounts of power. These two items describe the amount of light emitted per unit of power consumed by the bulbs.

OLEDs are safe

OLEDs consume less power so that they can operate effectively on less voltage electrical systems. They are much safer if something goes wrong.

OLEDs are physically small

The actual LED device is very small. Various uses of OLEDs include a wide spectrum from their roots in circuit board lighting and the traffic signals to modern mood lighting, commercial and residential property applications and major stadium lighting.

OLEDs have great color rendering index (CRI)

CRI is the measurement of the lights ability of revealing the actual color of the objects compared to the ideal light source i.e. natural light. High CRI is a desirable characteristic. LEDs usually have poor CRI ratings whenever it comes to CRI.

Hence the best way of appreciating CRI is to look at the direct comparison between LED lighting and traditional lighting solutions like the sodium vapor lamps.

Organic LED panels are extremely thin and do not require backlight. The OLED TVs tend to weigh less than the LED or LCD TVs and re considerable thin. In addition to that, the Organic Light Emitting Diodes need less power those make them more efficient. According to general study it also points that the Organic Light Emission Diodes display quite safer than the LCD panels.
