PANAJI: The TCP department’s steering committee constituted under the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations deliberated over the report on the proposed changes in regulations under the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulation.

The meeting, which was chaired by chief minister Pramod Sawant, focused on the next steps regarding the TCP department’s plans to permit constructions for specific purposes like agriculture research, sports and religious arenas and yoga centres, in green zones as well as the concerns raised by certain quarters.

“During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion took place regarding the report of the sub-committee on the draft regulations. Several other discussions pertaining to planning and policy matters were also undertaken,” said TCP minister Vishwajit Rane.

Along with Sawant and Rane, chief town planners Rajesh Naik and Vertika Dagur were also present.

The TCP department has introduced amendments to the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations and had notified the draft of the proposed regulations in April.

The draft amendments pave the way for constructions to come up in agricultural areas and green zones, if the project is related to agriculture research, sports, religious structures, wellness and yoga centres.

The TCP, through a notification, had sought objections and suggestions from the public. A sub-committee was formed to consider the objections and suggestions and subsequently submitted a report to the steering committee.
