THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The newly revamped website of Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority (K-RERA) launched by LSG minister M B Rajesh on Wednesday has been equipped with GIS mapping and property exploration tools.

The project explorer’s interactive maps show not only the project, but also key neighbourhood liveability aspects like schools and hospitals also. Buyers can monitor progress as reported by the developer and have one-click access to all plans, permits, brochures, photos indicating current progress etc.

K-RERA chairman P H Kurien said a prospective buyer can make informed decisions using the new features made available on the website. He also stressed the need to introduce reforms to extract more revenue for the state by promoting the organised real estate sector. “Only less than 10% total dwelling units are apartments in Kerala while in other states like Maharashtra the percentage is higher. There has to be reforms in the Rent Control Act so as to give an impetus to this sector,” said P H Kurien.

RERA member Preetha Menon said the website being a major mandatory aspect under the act will ensure transparency and pan India standardisation. “It will also act as a marketing tool for promoters and for the investors they can gauge accurate information from the website,” she said”. The new website has been designed by Kerala based startup Xocortx.

“The transparency and ease of data access this provides is expected to make the buying experience less anxiety-prone for non-resident Keralites as well. We would consider this project a real success when this site becomes the go-to search for any homebuyer in the state, and become a model that other states can emulate,” said Radhika Ravindran, managing partner Xocortx.
