PANCHKULA: Three persons were booked for selling a non-existent plot of land for Rs 70 lakh to a Panchkula-based real estate dealer. A complaint was given to the police by Prem Chand Singla, a resident of Sector-12/A, who deals in real estate.

In his complaint to the police, Singla stated that in the month of August 2022, a person identified as Harjeet Singh came to him along with Sandeep Kami, a resident of Kami village, and told him that a person named Lal Singh, a resident of Panjokhara, is willing to sell his 12.6 acres of land.

Lured by the offer, Singla visited the site and agreed to purchase 100 kanal and 19 marla land from him at Rs 56 lakh per acre.

Singla told them that he will get the land inspected from a revenue patwari, and Lal assured him that he will arrange the concerned Patwari for his inspection and verification of documents.

Later, Lal brought one person along with him to the victim’s office and introduced him as Patwari of his area. A few weeks later, a property sale and purchase agreement was signed by Lal Singh and Singla, with Singla allegedly paying Rs 70 lakh in total; Rs 38 lakh in cash and Rs 32 lakh through RTGS.

However, the fraud came to light when Singla visited the site a few days later and a farmer informed him that Lal Singh owns no property there.
