CHANDIGARH: A special court on Monday reserved its order on a bail application moved by M3M managing director Roop Bansal to Tuesday.

Another court, meanwhile, also issued production warrants for the same day against Bansal in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case registered against him and linked to arrested former CBI judge Sudhir Parmar.

In the bail application, Bansal’s counsel had said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not been able to file the complete challan in time.

The court is now expected to pass an order on a bail application moved by Ireo MD Lalit Goyal. Besides, the court will also take up an additional application moved by the defence counsel for dropping proceedings against Bansal in the ACB case.

It may be recalled that Bansal, Ajay Parmar and Sudhir Parmar were the main accused named in an ACB case registered in April. Barring Bansal, ED has so far arrested Goyal, Sudhir Parmar, his nephew Ajay Parmar, and M3M director promoters Bansant Bansal and Pankaj Bansal.

Roop Bansal was arrested in the PMLA case of 2021, where as Lalit Goyal was the main accused in a money-laundering case of Rs 400 crore. Roop Bansal and his associates were accused of creating multiple layers of proceeds of crime through various shell companies linked to them.

As Roop Bansal had applied for the bail on technical grounds, the ED sleuths had sought his production warrants for making him to join the investigation in the ACB case.

Jail authorities will now produce Roop Bansal in ED court on Tuesday.
