GURUGRAM: The district administration, on the recommendations of the department of town and country planning (DTCP), has approved the installation of boom barriers and security gates on internal roads of four licensed residential colonies.

The department had received applications from the residents of Brahma City, DLF Pink Town House U block, Sushant Lok 1 A block, Rosewood City A block and Sector 60.

After a discussion between the deputy commissioner and DTCP officials on Wednesday, the applications of four of these colonies were approved with certain riders, while Rosewood City’s application was forwarded to HSVP for their comments.

“The RWA of Brahma City in Sector 60 had applied for permission to install boom barriers on the 24m-wide road in M block, which was approved. The DC also approved boom barriers on roads in A block of Sushant Lok 1,” district town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav said.

Rosewood City A block also sought a nod for setting up boom barriers and gates, but the road in question leads to an HSVP pocket.

“So, we have written to HSVP for their comments. Any decision on granting permission will be taken only after HSVP’s response is received,” Yadav added.

Apart from this, the RWA of Pink Town House sought to install boom barriers in three lanes in U block, officials said. This was not in accordance with the rules, but considering the request of the residents, DTCP sought the comments from the DLF ACP. The application was approved after the police officer gave his consent.

“After discussions with the deputy commissioner, the member secretary of DTCP’s approval committee issued approval to RWAs to install boom barriers. All permissions have been issued for two months. If the boom barriers are made operational as per the rules, extending the duration will be considered,” DTP Yadav said.

He further said that RWA will bear the expenses of setting up the gates and boom barriers. “There are some terms and conditions which need to be strictly enforced. No boom barrier will be closed permanently, convex mirrors have to be installed, and the gates should have 24-hour security personnel and CCTV coverage. Comments have been sought from the police stations and ACP offices concerned regarding some applications,” he said.

The residents welcomed the development.

“From the security point of view, we had requested DTCP and the district administration to allow installation of gates and boom barriers. We are happy that they have granted permission,” a Sushant Lok 1 resident said.
