PUNE: The property registration department is yet to receive the new and updated software from the National Informatics Centre to streamline the leave and licence registration system.

Sources from the department said the National Informatics Centre (NIC) was testing the new software and it would be shared with the state’s property registration department shortly.

“We should be able to share the software soon,” said a senior official from the information technology department of the state.

From April onwards, there have been several complaints regarding tenants’ registration in the state. Unless the new updated software is in place, technical glitches would continue, said a senior official from the property registration department.

Sachin Shingavi, the president of the association of service providers, said the new software would help speed up registrations.

“The new software is supposed to streamline the system. The state government is keen on registering the tenants’ documents. So, it should speed up the process,” Shingavi said.

Some affected citizens received partial documents.

“A few of us got the challan but have not got our registered document. This should be resolved at the earliest,” said a citizen.

The property registration department had to clear over 30,000 documents in the last two months.

“As of now, we have cleared the pending documents. Daily 4,000-5,000 documents are registered by tenants. These documents have to be cleared. At present, the old software is being used. There is a fear that it will crash again, and citizens will face issues,” said a senior property registration official, who did not want to be named.
