New Building Regulations Address Parking Problems, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate

JAIPUR: The urban development and housing (UDH) department has notified new building regulations that now have, among other specifications, precise norms for parking facilities in houses depending on the area and the front and back setback for properties in the city.

Rooftop restaurants can only be run in commercial buildings or hotels, as per the new norms, which were issued by UDH department joint secretary Sanchita Bishnoi on August 10.

The order states that in case building blocks of different heights are proposed in a plan, the minimum distance from the boundary wall of the plot of the front side and back setback of the nearest building block will have to be kept one fourth of the height of the building block prescribed for the plot.

The new regulations also make it mandatory for independent residential plots of up to 90 square meters to provide scooter parking.

It is also mandatory to provide minimum parking for one car in independent residential plots of more than 90 square meters up to 225 square meters.

It will not be mandatory for independent residential plots to make provision for visitor parking.
