Min Lays Foundation Stone For Life Mission Project, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate
KOCHI: Industries minister P Rajeeve laid the foundation stone for the construction of housing complexes under the Life Mission in Nellikuzhi panchayat on Sunday.
Two flat complexes are coming up on 42 cents of land owned by NRI businessman Sameer Pookuzhy which has been handed over to the panchayat free of cost as part of the campaign.
The apartments in the two flats will be allotted to 42 families. Of the two complexes, the state government will construct one block for 24 families while the second block for 18 families will be constructed by Pookuzhy.
The minister also handed over the keys of the apartments that have been already built under the Life Mission to the beneficiaries during the function.
He felicitated the businessman at the event for handing over the land for free of cost. The minister said similar projects were implemented in the panchayat with the support of Chittilappilly Foundation and others.
Rajeeve reiterated that the objective of the government is to ensure that there are no homeless people in the state. He said that around 4 lakh people have so far benefitted from the project.
The construction of the flats in Nellikuzhi will be completed in one year by tracking the project’s progress in a time-bound manner.
Talking about the financial situation in the state, the minister admitted that the state government is facing a crisis. “Still, the state government has been taking forward projects like the Life Mission,” he said.
He also added that district collector NSK Umesh has been entrusted with the task of addressing the issues related to estimating the fair value of plots in Iramallur village.
The collector, local body authorities and Life Mission officials attended the programme which was held at a convention centre in Nellikuzhy.
