LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) demolished an illegal commercial construction in Kitchlu Nagar on Friday.
The officials said the structure was being constructed in violation of building bylaws. As a commercial building can’t be established in a residential area, the officials had warned the owner against it.
MC commissioner Sandeep Rishi said regular drives are being organised against illegal constructions, and the building owners should also try to stay away from illegal activities. The drive against illegal construction would be further intensified in the coming days.
Rishi also appealed to the residents to get the building plans approved from the civic body before starting the construction work. “Buildings should be constructed as per building bylaws, otherwise strict action will be taken against the violators,” he said.
