M3m Promoter Files Pre-emptive Bail Plea, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate
CHANDIGARH: M3M group of companies’ promoter Roop Bansal has filed for an anticipatory bail in the corruption case in which he was named in April as one of three accused. The additional district and sessions court will hear his petition on October 26.
His co-accused include former CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) judge Sudhir Parmar and his nephew Ajay Singh Parmar. Bansal and the Parmars are in the Ambala jail in two separate cases that the enforcement directorate had registered. Bansal was arrested in the 2021 money laundering case that involved Ireo realty group managing director Lalit Goyal.
The defence counsel claimed that the FIR was not based on any credible evidence. It is based on some WhatsApp messages and tapped conversations that the counsel claimed were invalid in the eyes of law and unreliable for starting with prosecution.
Challenging the Haryana’s anti-corruption bureau’s investigation procedure, the defense counsel also cited several rulings of various high courts and the SC that mandate preliminary investigation before the registration of any case.
Besides annexing these rulings and citations, the defense counsel put on record proceedings of the PMLA court in relation to ECIR, arrests made, so far, and relief provided by courts.
