JAIPUR: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) had decided to replace old streetlights with smart LEDs in streets on the outskirts of city.
“The old-age sodium lights had not been replaced for the last 15 years in areas under JDA’s jurisdiction, but outside the limit of the two municipal corporations of the city. We want to replace those streetlights with hi-tech smart LEDs, those are now being installed at a few post localities of the city,” said a JDA official.
According to the plan, JDA would install 5,000 such smart LED lights in next four months as the first phase of the project. The civic authority would start installing more such lights in the outskirt areas in the next phase.
“The first phase would cost around Rs 11 crore. A report states that it would save JDA an estimated Rs 3 crore annually on electric bill,” said another JDA official.
