DEHRADUN: Following complaints of fabrication in property registry records in Dehradun, the district magistrate has the ADM to look into the issue. An inquiry into the matter is under way.
According to a source in the administration, the matter came to light a few weeks back, when a resident approached the DM office with registry records of a property that had been owned by his father.
“The father had passed away years back and the man claimed to have ownership but was coming forward after years. When the registry records were checked, the documents provided by him seemed to be false.
The matter was looked into and discrepancies were found in some of the other records as well following which the district magistrate ordered an inquiry into the case. In one case, a woman claimed that her registry documents were tampered with in the records’ room,” said the source.
ADM, Ramji Sharan, who is investigating one of the cases, told TOI, that “some issues were found in the old physical records.”
