Many open drainage canals inside the premises are blocked by solid waste while underground drainage networks are blocked due to silting of pipelines. housing board association president V Vaikal Durai, of said, “Most of the sanitary workers with the corporation are residing in the complex but the the cleanliness of their own residential complex is in pathetic state. This is due to fewer number of sanitary workers assigned to clean there and lack of mass cleaning in the last few months.” He said that the corporation is neglecting the housing board.

P Ravi Kumar, Madurai south secretary of VCK, said, “Most of them are sanitary workers living in the complex and corporation follows a modern way of untouchability by denying basic services to residents of the complex.” He said a road picketing will be conducted if the corporation doesn’t heed the demand.
