NOIDA: Residents of the 6% abadi plots (kisan quota land) in Kasna’s B block reported the lack of a proper approach road to their homes.

The area, which is just 8km from the district collectorate and the GNIDA office, is home to about 700 residents. Yet, it lacks basic civic amenities like sewers, drains or a road despite the residents having paid for these facilities.

At present, the only approach road to this colony is not yet paved and riddled with potholes.

Residents also claim that water from the nearly 5ft drain, as well as from the recent monsoon showers, fills up the plots and subsequently leaves plot owners unable to access their homes or drive into the area.

“This road is the only way we can reach Kasna, especially from E to B block. But because this road has been broken between plot numbers B-228 and B-277 and in more areas for a long time, residents find it very difficult to commute. Besides, a 4-5 feet wide nala (drain) flows behind this road from Luksar village to the Asian Paints area in Kasna. This too is broken due to which dirty water from the drain overflows and has filled up nearby plots including plot numbers 288, 287, 286 etc of the B block,” said Jaiveer Bhati, a resident of the area.

Residents say they are unable to build their houses due to the perpetual presence of stagnant water in these plots. Dirt, garbage and overgrown shrubs have also piled up here due to the Authority’s apathy, they alleged. Despite repeated complaints to GNIDA residents maintain that no work has been done on the ground.

“Every time we raise the issue we are told work is being done. All I can say is that it must be on the papers as we don’t see any work on the ground,” said Bhati.

Bhati also claimed that the water line has not been installed in the area even though the water connection charge has already been collected from the allottees.

“The sewers are not operational yet. Also, the track dressing work of the roadsides is yet to be taken up. There’s wilderness all around with about 6ft grass and Kikar tree growth along the drain and the sides of the makeshift muddy road,” another resident said.

When contacted, Rajesh Singh, supervisor, health department GNIDA, said he has cleaned up the area and further sanitation will be done. “The repair of the road, sewers and track dressing work is under the jurisdiction of the civil department,” Singh said.

Nagendra Singh, senior manager of work circle 3 and the GNIDA in-charge of the area, further clarified that the process of estimate approval for the road and other works is underway. “Today, we have begun work of cleaning the drain, soon the road will also be repaired,” he said.

Kisan or farmers’ quota plot is a plot which is allotted to farmers as part of the compensation for their land acquisition. In this case, the individual plot is 6% of the total area of the land acquired by the government.
