MOHALI: The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) has postponed its e-auction of 49 properties slated from October 15 to 30 after the Punjab chief secretary Anurag Verma has raised objection.

In his letter to the Gmada chief administrator, the chief secretary-cum-administrative secretary, housing and urban development, Anurag Verma, said it will be the responsibility of officers to ensure that all e-auctions of the Gmada and other authorities of housing and urban development are conducted only on platform or the system certified to be fully secure by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) as well as the department of governance reforms.

Verma has directed the Gmada to take corrective measures before proceeding with the e-auction. Security concerns about the Gmada’s site for e-auction were raised by the NIC of the state government.

All the properties being offered were located in developed sectors/urban estates. The sites were planned to be allotted on receiving 10% payment of the final bid price.

The possession of the sites was to be handed over on deposit of 25% payment of the bidding amount by them.

Earlier, Rajiv Kumar Gupta, chief administrator, Gmada, had said they had decided to e-auction housing and school sites besides commercial properties such as SCOs/SCFs and booths.
