NASHIK: The erratic functioning of the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s online system for approving building plans has slowed down the approval process that builders must get from the civic body to start their projects.

Under the online system of approval, it takes about a week for the same. But due to the erratic functioning of the online system caused by technical issues, it takes about two months for builders to get the approval as some processes before the approvals are to be done manually.

Vijay Sanap, the president of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers of India, said at present, it takes around two months for submission and approval of the online building plans.

“There should not be human interference and building plans should be approved within a week after the submission online. In some cities where the online system is in place, it takes only a week for approval , but in Nashik, it takes over two months,” said Sanap.

Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has organised a meeting of builders’ associations from across the state on June 16 in Nagpur to discuss the easing of doing business in the real estate sector. “We are going to raise the issues related to online software for online submission and approvals of the building plans . We will urge him to have pure online software for the process and there should not be any human interference,” he added.

Sanjay Agrawal, executive engineer, NMC’s town planning department, said they have upgraded the online software and it is operating smoothly.
