BHOPAL: Ahead of monsoons, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will once again carry out a survey of dilapidated structures, said mayor Malti Rai speaking to BMC officials in a review meeting on Saturday.
Rai directed the official to identify dilapidated and dangerous buildings in all areas of the city and take appropriate action against them.
There are an estimated 450 structures across Bhopal which are considered dilapidated. However, most of these building are under litigation and BMC cannot take action.
Under extreme circumstances, BMC takes action to demolish structures citing direct harm to public safety. Rai also mentioned the need for regular meetings of ward committees.
Officials from BMC Zone 2, 3, 4, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 were present in the meeting at ISBT.
