28 Construction Sites Sealed For Violating Air Pollution Rules, ET RealEstate
AHMEDABAD: In its second drive against construction sites found violating pollution laws, the civic body sealed 28 construction sites and issued notices to 85 others in various areas of the city on Friday. The civic body also collected Rs 17 lakh in fines from 55 other construction sites.
The civic body had sealed 41 construction sites in the city on Thursday for non-compliance with air pollution guidelines. This action was initiated in response to a circular issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on April 17. The circular instructed construction sites to install green nets, erect barricades, and establish safety measures to reduce air pollution.
During a review meeting on Wednesday, AMC chief M Thennarasan observed that the circular’s guidelines were not implemented correctly in various zones.
Consequently, the commissioner directed the Estate TDO department to inspect all construction sites in the city. The inspection revealed that 41 sites lacked the required green nets.
