Residents’ Assns Meet Cm Over Registry Delay, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate
NOIDA: A team of Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (NOFAA), New Era Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) and Federation of Noida and Greater Noida Apartment Owners Association met the CM over the delay in registries on the GBU campus in Greater Noida on Sunday.
Citing the over 2.5 lakh registries pending for a decade or more, the team sought the appointment of a nodal officer from the administration to act as an intermediary between builders, residents and authorities to prevent further delays. The team also demanded strict action against builders in cases of completed projects where registries are still pending. Yogi Adityanath assured the team of taking the necessary steps.
“We met the CM briefly at GBU and submitted our petition on builder-related issues. We said we need speedy solutions on pending registries and suggested appointing a nodal officer to facilitate the process,” NOFAA president Rajiva Singh said.
“We told the CM that homebuyers have long paid all applicable charges but do not have possession of their homes because the builder owes dues and penalties to the authorities. It’s urgent to reach a middle path with a long-term strategy,” said NOFAA secretary general Rajesh Sahay.
The team suggested a one-time relief to builders from Noida Authority to facilitate registries for over 50,000 flats or recovery from builders by attaching their assets or properties.
NEFOWA president Abhishek Kumar, “We told the CM that all builders, absconding or not, should be made accountable for stalling work by attaching their properties.”
NEFOWA, which has been holding weekly Sunday protests over pending registries, also sought relief from police action on buyers.
“Recently, the police registered FIRs against some of the protesting homebuyers. We told the CM we have no criminal background and have a right to protest for our homes. All police action against homebuyers should get withdrawn,” said Shubhra Singh from NEFOWA.
