GURUGRAM: The town and country planning department executed a large-scale demolition drive, clearing six illegal colonies spread across 30 acres in the villages of Alipur, Raisina, and Bhondsi of Sohna tehsil.

According to officials, the operation was carried out with police support and resulted in the demolition of around 40 unauthorised structures, including shops, offices, guard rooms, entry gates, and road networks.

The official added that the department is carrying out drives on the outskirts of the city against illegal construction, but people are using gaps to carve out unauthorized colonies.

In Alipur, a new unauthorized colony of 3 acres was demolished, including a property dealer’s office and a 400-meter interlocking tiles road network.

Meanwhile, in Raisina, an unauthorized colony named Westin County by Raghav Reality, spanning 15 acres, was demolished. The team dismantled a guard room, an entry gate, and a 500-metre unauthorized farmhouse boundary wall.

“Furthermore, Bhondsi saw the demolition of two unauthorized colonies in Maruti Kunj, covering a combined area of seven acres. This included the removal of 12 structures and a 300-metre road network. Additionally, two unauthorized colonies named Sheh Vihar on 66ft Road in the same village of 6 acres, were also demolished. This drive resulted in the demolition of three structures, three shops, and twenty other under-construction properties,” said an official.

“Prospective buyers are advised to contact the office of the District Town Planner (DTP) for any inquiries before purchasing land or plots to ensure they are not investing in illegal properties,” DTP Manish Yadav, said.

Meanwhile, an encroachment drive was carried out in South City II, targeting three properties and the Arcadia Market. During the drive, three properties with complaints regarding unauthorized additions and alterations were sealed, and encroachments in Arcadia Market were removed.
