GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has constituted a team of assistant town planner and junior engineers and field technicians to keep a check on the compliance of NGT rules in licensed colonies.

The development came after rising air pollution from construction sites and developers and property owners not adhering to rules under stage 2 of GRAP.

As per a report, the field staff informed that under construction buildings in several colonies are not covered with green sheets or tin sheds while the building materials are also lying uncovered.

According to the norms, mechanical or vacuum-based sweeping of roads is to be carried out on a daily basis, water sprinkling along with dust suppressants has to be ensured on roads, and proper disposal of dust collected in designated sites or landfills is to be checked.

Manish Yadav, district town planner (enforcement), said that the team has been formed under the chairmanship of ATP Anil Kumar to monitor the compliance of rules in the licensed colonies. Besides, junior engineer Amit Kumar and field technician Paras are also a part of the team.

According to the orders issued by DTCP, the team will impose special attention on following NGT and pollution control rules in the licensed colonies.

“The team will intensify inspections for strict enforcement of dust control measures at construction and demolition sites. Thereafter, a report will be submitted to higher authorities every week based on which challans ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh will be issued as per NGT norms,” Yadav added.
